Available & Vacant Properties
Every vacant lot and empty building is an opportunity — and McKees Rocks has the tools and partners to put them back to work.
Identify and secure properties
Resolve ownership and legal barriers
Prepare properties for reuse
Create new community value
A coordinated approach to vacancy
On January 8, 2020, the McKees Rocks CDC and McKees Rocks Borough — in partnership with Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, Grounded Strategies, Tri-COG Land Bank, Dollar Bank, and Allegheny County Economic Development — held a Vacant Property Town Hall that drew more than 170 community stakeholders to prioritize housing and reuse strategies.
Dealing with vacant property at scale requires a complementary set of tools to acquire property, clear title, and return it to productive use. Because every vacant property is different, there’s no single mechanism that works in every case — so the CDC and its partners bring a full toolkit, including land-bank access.
